Digital Communications Coordinator AmeriCorps Member

Position Summary

The Digital Communications Coordinator will assist the Marketing Manager in creating and planning social media content, writing articles for our bi-weekly newsletter, and sending direct emails promoting events to our partners. This person will collaborate with FARRMS staff to manage our digital presence, drive community engagement, and effectively communicate the value of our programs and events. This role is crucial for amplifying our organization's mission through engaging social media content, informative newsletters, and targeted direct outreach.

Key Responsibilities

The Digital Communications Coordinator will be responsible for executing the organization's digital content strategy across various platforms.


Social Media & Content Marketing

  • Content Creation & Scheduling: Develop, create, and schedule a diverse range of engaging content for social media channels, maintaining a commitment of at least five posts per week.

  • Program Promotion: Create timely and compelling social media posts to directly promote all upcoming program events, webinars, workshops, and initiatives.

  • Organic Education: Design educational content to increase audience knowledge in the organic certification process using messaging and information from Marketing Manager.

  • Diverse Content Development: Design and execute "extra" content streams to maintain audience interest, some of this content includes:Sharing farmer recipes.
    Creating content around seasonal themes and holidays.
    Producing short-form video content (Reels).
    Highlighting partner events.
    Sharing industry-relevant digital marketing tips for farmers.
    Conducting and featuring "Farmer Spotlights."


Newsletter & Blog Post Content

  • Article Writing: Write, edit, and contribute articles for the organization's bi-weekly newsletter, including:"Producer’s Perspective" features.
    "Farmer Directory" profiles.
    Program and event recap articles to showcase FARRMS’ impact.

  • Messaging Support: Assist program staff with refining and standardizing messaging for external communications to ensure clarity and consistency.


Direct Outreach & Communications

  • Email Communication: Develop and execute targeted direct outreach emails, primarily for communication with partner organizations.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain occasional direct email communication with farmers regarding specific program needs or opportunities.


Other

  • Assist FARRMS Executive Director and Program staff in delivery of educational programs for local food marketing.

  • Participate in AmeriCorps training and activities as required by Souris Basin Planning Council.

Time Commitment

Part-time | 300-hours to be completed by September 30, 2026

Compensation

$4,500 Stipend | $1,565 Education Award
