About the event

Field Day Details

Join us for a look at innovative, certified organic farming at Hiddendale Farm. This tour highlights ongoing research and hands-on production across variety trials, seed saving, and diversified production.

The Hiddendale Farm field day will demonstrate seed based variety research as part of a trial across several states funded by Organic Seed Alliance. The project involves tracking data from planting to seed cleaning for squash, lettuce, and tomatoes. The tour will also include a study involving two varieties of buckwheat funded by a USDA-SARE grant. This study will compare two varieties whose cleaned seed will be distributed to artisan bakers. The Quishuim melon cultural seed preservation project, now in its second year, will be the final stop on the tour.

Throughout the tour, attendees will hear about production methods, seasonal challenges, and the real world economics behind diversified organic farming.

A meal will be provided. More information coming…
