About the event

The 9 month program begins December 1.

Farm Beginnings® is geared towards anyone currently farming or interested in farming who wants to plan a profitable, sustainable farm business. Classes are led by experienced farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals. Hundreds of farmers have graduated from Farm Beginnings® programs nationwide, and they have a strong track record.

Set the stage for a profitable, sustainable farm business. Enrollment now open for prospective and current farmers of all ages and backgrounds. Participants do not need to own land.

The 9 month program begins in December. Participants will create a whole farm plan during 8 business development sessions over the winter. The program continues into spring and summer with the development of an individualized learning plan for the upcoming growing season, facilitated farm tours, and hands on demonstration activities.

Topics include: whole farm planning, marketing strategies, soil health, financial planning, business management, and connecting to resources.

Total course value is over $1500 per farm. Through the generosity of local sponsors and funders, FARRMS is able to offer this course for $500 in 2018. Your registration will ask for a $50 deposit toward tuition.

FARRMS is committed to assisting all farmers in achieving their sustainability goals. If the tuition is a burden to your farm business, please discuss scholarship options with us.

Winter session dates:

December 1 &15, January 5 &19, February 16 & 23, March 2 & 9
