Grants to Grow

The Grant/Loan Program at FARRMS

WHO CAN APPLY:

  • Available to North Dakota Residents only.
  • Farms that are certified organic or actively transitioning into organic production.
  • Non-certified projects on the organic farm – for example a free range poultry operation that isn’t certified.
  • Growers whose gross sales are under $5000 who meet the NOP organic rule but do not need to be certified.
  • Producers with an idea for a sustainable project.

HOW CAN THE GRANT/LOAN BE USED:

  • Grant/Loan can be used for a variety of projects or expenses, but should be directly related to the farming operation, including but not limited to: fencing, computers, seed, irrigation, equipment, etc.
  • Experimental plots or other research-based projects will only be considered if the applicant has already applied for a SARE Producer Grant and has been denied.

2 $1,001-$3,000 $1,000 is a grant, any additional funds granted are a low-interest loan. Anytime
3 $3,001 to $10,000 33% of the request is given as a grant, the remaining amount is a low-interest loan. December 1

  • Farm Business Management

Recipients are also eligible for scholarships to educational events and other FARRMS’ programs
