How can the grant/loan be used?
A FARRMS grant or loan can be used for a variety of projects or expenses directly related to the farming operation or nutritional health.
Projects include, but are not limited to, fencing, computers, seed, irrigation, equipment, community gardens, fresh fruit and vegetable pantries, etc.
Experimental plots or other research-based projects will only be considered if the applicant has already applied for a SARE Producer Grant and has been denied.
Who can apply:
- North Dakota Producers with a project that will help achieve more sustainability
on their farm.
- Producers that are certified organic or are actively transitioning
into organic production.
- Growers who are dedicated to sustainability in their gardens/plots.
- Communities with projects related to the sustainability
of low income people – Category 1 only.
- A previous loan applicant may apply for up to two additional loans.
The purpose of the foundation is to provide educational outreach, research and information regarding sustainable agriculture and rural resources.
