Grant & Loan Program For

How can the grant/loan be used?

A FARRMS grant or loan can be used for a variety of projects or expenses directly related to the farming operation or nutritional health.

Projects include, but are not limited to, fencing, computers, seed, irrigation, equipment, community gardens, fresh fruit and vegetable pantries, etc.

Experimental plots or other research-based projects will only be considered if the applicant has already applied for a SARE Producer Grant and has been denied.

Who can apply:

  • Producers with a project that will help achieve more sustainability
    on their farm.
  • Producers that are certified organic or are actively transitioning
    into organic production.
  • Growers who are dedicated to sustainability in their gardens/plots.
  • Communities with projects related to the sustainability
    of low income people – Category 1 only.
  • A previous loan applicant may apply for up to two additional loans.

The purpose of the foundation is to provide educational outreach, research and information regarding sustainable agriculture and rural resources.

Additional Application Requirements

In addition to filling out the application form, applicants must submit the following auxiliary documents:

  1. Transition plan if applicable
  2. Vision statement for your operation
  3. IRS Schedule F and balance sheets for two (2) years
  4. A detailed plan on how you intend to use the award money

If you cannot provide the above information please include an
explanation why you cannot.

Applicants maybe required to schedule a face-to-face interview with the local committee.

A repayment schedule for all loans will be created as a part of the application process.
